About the Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality
The Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality at Creighton University was established in February 1990. From its inception, the Center's mission has been and remains the promotion of spirituality rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola and reflective of the Jesuit charism. By sharing the gifts of the Spiritual Exercises and Ignatian spirituality through group and individual spiritual direction, retreats, workshops and other offerings, the Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality forms and accompanies Creighton University students, faculty, staff and individuals beyond the University in promoting personal and corporate growth.
About the Director Position
The Director of the Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality is responsible for setting and executing a vision for the Deglman Center of Ignatian Spirituality that sustains, animates, and deepens students', faculty, staff and community members' formation in Ignatian spirituality and experiences of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. This role oversees and partnership with a team. Director's duties include:
* Develop and pursue a comprehensive vision for the Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality;
* Lead, sustain and develop diverse opportunities for faculty, staff and other stakeholders to learn about, engage with and be continually formed by Ignatian spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola;
* Foster collaborative relationships with various university partners and external entities to enhance individuals' and groups' formation in Ignatian spirituality, broaden access to the Spiritual Exercises and deepen Creighton University's expression of its Jesuit Catholic mission and identity;
* Provide group and individual direction rooted in the Ignatian tradition;
* Supervise and support the Deglman Center staff, whose responsibilities include stewardship of Creighton University's Online Ministries;
* Ensure regular assessment and review of departmental offerings;
* Partner with the Vice President for Mission and Ministry and the department of University Relations in fundraising efforts to strengthen and sustain the Center's mission-critical work; and
* Participate as a member of the Division of Mission and Ministry's leadership team, represent the Center and Division in various settings, and assist with other duties as assigned.
This position reports to the Vice President for Mission and Ministry.
Qualifications:
* Master's degree in Divinity, Theology, Ministry or related discipline.
* Training and experience as a spiritual director formed in Ignatian Spirituality.
* Demonstrated experience directing the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola in myriad formats, particularly 19th Annotation in small groups and 1:1, as well as experience leading Ignatian preached retreats.
* A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience, including strong development of relational, supervisory, organizational, planning and budget skills.
* Demonstrated record of working collaboratively to establish and animate a shared vision.
* Experience working in university setting (preferred).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Strong pastoral and administrative sensibilities.
* In-depth knowledge of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola and Ignatian Spirituality.
* Skilled at ministering within a multi-generational context.
* Excellent written and verbal communications, and exceptional listening skills.
* Ability and commitment to take initiative, think creatively, and work both independently and collaboratively.
* Skilled at fostering relationships and community grounded in invitation.
* Familiarity Creighton University's mission as a Jesuit, Catholic institution of higher education.
* Facility with technology, computers, MSOffice, etc..
* Understanding of program assessment and evaluation.
* Ability to manage departmental budget, provide donor stewardship, and collaborate in fundraising.
* Availability for periodic night and weekend commitments and occasional travel.
