The gallery assistant must be highly organized, personable, and versatile. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and a background in art history. Responsibilities Greet visitors Answer questions from the public Direct incoming sales inquiries Manage appointment system Answer telephones Maintain artist biographies Prepare checklists for exhibitions Update the gallery’s mailing list Handle exhibition announcement and publication mailings Sell gallery publications Provide overall administrative support and assist gallery directors Key Skills/Experience Undergraduate degree Knowledge of modern and contemporary art Previous experience in a gallery, museum or auction house Excellent verbal and written communication skills Attention to detail Friendly and composed demeanor Professionalism and discretion Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment Competitive compensation, health insurance, 401K, paid vacation and holidays.
