Location : We are seeking an experienced General Manager for Zoo New England to oversee Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo .

Unit Description:

The Franklin Park Zoo is a 72 acres zoo located in Boston, Massachusetts. Franklin Park Zoo is home to incredible animals from around the globe. Visitors can stand face-to-face with the Zoo's seven western lowland gorillas at one of five glass viewing stations in the state-of-the-art indoor exhibit. Within 30 minutes of The Franklin Park Zoo, the Stone Zoo is a medium- to small-sized zoo of about 26 acres in Stoneham, Massachusetts. Founded in 1905, the zoo includes low-lying areas densely developed with smaller exhibits for animals as well as rocky forested hillsides devoted to larger habitats for Species Survival Plan programs.

Job Overview:

The General Manager of Food and Beverage will oversee all aspects of Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo operations, including concessions, merchandise, and catering services. The General Manager will plan and prepare for events and activities according to anticipated guest attendance and client expectations, will provide hands-on management and oversight, and will direct and support post-event activities, reconciliation and reporting.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all food and beverage operations at Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo.
• Hire, train, and develop staff to ensure high performance and a positive work environment.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, excellence, and customer service.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures for all food and beverage areas.
• Monitor and maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation.
• Prepare and manage the annual budget for food and beverage operations.
• Analyze financial reports and implement strategies to maximize profitability.
• Build partnerships with local suppliers and vendors to enhance offerings and sustainability efforts.
• Gather and respond to guest feedback to continuously improve services.
• Ensures compliance with company standards, client specifications, contractual obligations, and other legal and regulatory compliance requirements.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in food and beverage environment. 
• Demonstrated financial acumen with past P&L responsibility.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management; Ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts.

Other Requirements :

• Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
• Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
