We are seeking Italian Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Italian is a priority European language, frequently requested in asylum, immigration, and naturalization proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time Italian English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
• Interpret accurately, impartially, and professionally in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
• Manage both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
• Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Italian and English.
• 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, healthcare, community, or government preferred).
• Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
• Strong telephone communication skills and ability to remain accurate under pressure.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
