Job Description

BCTG’s direct client has an immediate need for an experienced Magento Cloud Application Architect on our B2C Ecommerce team to design, develop, and manage scalable and secure eCommerce solutions on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. This role is essential for our organizations that run Magento as a key component of our online business infrastructure and are looking to leverage Azure's scalability, reliability, and cloud-native services. The ideal candidate has expertise in Magento architecture, Magento development and Azure cloud architecture , with a strong focus on optimizing performance, ensuring security, and implementing best practices for eCommerce systems.

This role is critical to maximize Magento’s capabilities with the power of Azure’s cloud infrastructure, providing a scalable, secure, and customer-centric shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture Design and Planning :
• Design, develop and implement scalable e-commerce applications to support growing B2C & B2B2C portfolio.
• Develop and implement a high-level architecture for the Magento platform on Azure, including disaster recovery, high availability, and multi-region deployments.
• Design cloud-based solutions leveraging Azure services such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions, App Services, and Azure SQL Databases.
• Integrate caching strategies with tools like Redis and CDNs (e.g., Azure CDN, Cloudflare) to improve performance and scalability.
• Main technical point of contact for project implementation requirements, helping design solutions that meet or exceed the current architecture standards and best practices.
• Identifies, proposes mitigation strategies, and escalates technology-related risks in a timely manner.
• eCommerce Development and Customization :
• Architect and oversee the development of custom Magento modules, extensions, and themes to meet specific business requirements.
• Works with product owners, scrum masters/project managers, graphic designers, Magento developers, QA analysts and ERP/CRM teams to deliver the absolute best solutions possible in Magento e-commerce.
• Participates in developing & driving the e-commerce B2C roadmap in collaboration with Marketing and Product teams.
• Assists in estimating the size and scope of projects on the e-commerce B2C roadmap.
• Lead the migration of existing Magento infrastructure to Azure, ensuring minimal downtime and smooth transitions.
• Provides technical leadership to multiple development teams/squads.
• Optimize Magento codebase for cloud deployments, including monitoring and troubleshooting code issues on Azure.
• Security and Compliance :
• Ensure compliance with security standards, such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, and other relevant regulations in eCommerce.
• Implement and manage Azure security tools, including Azure Security Center, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Active Directory, to protect sensitive data and manage identities.
• Design and enforce best practices for data privacy, access control, and secure API integrations.
• Performance Monitoring and Optimization :
• Implement and monitor performance metrics and analytics using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, New Relic, and Log Analytics.
• Manage continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Azure DevOps for efficient and reliable code deployment.
• Regularly audit and optimize database performance, server response times, and front-end load times.
• Collaboration and Leadership :
• Work closely with product, design, and backend engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior team members and conduct training on cloud-native technologies and Magento best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement new Azure services that improve Magento functionality and performance.

Required Qualifications

• Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience :
• 5+ years of experience with Magento (Magento 2.x preferred) and eCommerce platform development.
• 3+ years working with Azure cloud services, particularly in deploying and managing applications on Azure.
• Technical Skills :
• Strong proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Deep understanding of Azure cloud services, including AKS, Azure Functions, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, and Virtual Machines.
• Experience with containerization technologies, like Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Grafana) and security services (Azure Security Center).
• Certifications : Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Magento Certified Solution Specialist (preferred).

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with headless commerce architecture and integration with APIs.
• Understanding of data analytics and business intelligence tools on Azure.
• Knowledge of other cloud environments, like AWS or Google Cloud, is a plus.

• Ability to work in an agile environment and manage cross-functional teams effectively.
