About the Role

The Program Associate, Organizational Development (OD) is responsible for providing high-level administrative and grant processing support to the OD Pillar. The Associate will assist with reviewing proposals, preparing reports, and managing service contracts. They will act as an administration point of contact to grantees guiding them to key resources to effectively navigate their grant journey with GCF.

Responsibilities of the Position Include:

Program Operations & Administration

  • Contribute to pilot projects or new initiatives providing operational, analytical and administrative support as needed
  • Support in overseeing and tracking work of service partners and grantees
  • Assist in drafting presentations, reports, board materials, and internal documentation.
  • Monitor program budgets and expenditures.
  • Schedule and organize meetings, including logistics, agendas, and follow-ups with grantees, consultants, and other stakeholders.

Grantmaking Support

  • Assist with application reviews and documentation
  • Maintain databases (GivingData), track grant status, register ideas and support the team in managing the logistics and compliance of the grantmaking process
  • Support due diligence on prospective grantees for the docket
  • Review grantee reports, request for proposals, and other materials and provide an initial evaluation of completeness and alignment with criteria.
  • Assist in identification of grantees that fit OD requirements.

Research & Analysis

  • Help assess grantee or program outcomes through data gathering or support to external evaluators.
  • Conduct background research on potential OD grantees, fields of interest, or emerging issues.
  • Prepare briefing memos or talking points summarizing findings and trends.

Relationship Management

  • Serve as a first point of contact for grantees on OD related questions and services
  • Work with other Pillars (e.g., Grants Management, Venture, Collective Impact) to support cross-functional efforts.
  • Help organize convenings, workshops, or learning sessions with partners and stakeholders.

Learning & Strategy

  • Help document learnings from grantmaking, support internal reflection, and track progress against strategy.
  • Keep up with relevant field developments and contribute insights to team discussions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Graduate degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience working in nonprofit management preferably located in emerging geographies, capacity building of nonprofits, and/or international social development consulting
  • International development exposure, particularly in emerging regions with nonprofits
  • Experience with grantmaking or grant receiving organizations and processes
  • Excellent listening and relationship building skills, and ability to lead with sensitivity
  • Demonstrated experience working with multicultural teams
  • Experience in climate space preferred, but not required
  • Experience providing administrative and/or project coordination and management support with increasing levels of complexity
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet changing deadlines and requests, while strategically thinking ahead.
  • Highly strategic and ability to work with others to develop collective strategy
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to summarize and present information to various audiences, including NGOs, funders and experts
  • High level of comfort with MS Office/ Google Docs
  • Multilingual skills a plus, but not mandatory

This is a full-time role based either remotely in the Bay Area, CA or our Brookline, MA office.

The starting salary range for this position is $70,000-$78,000.

Growald Climate Fund offers competitive salaries annually benchmarked against a thousand other philanthropic non profit grant making foundations.
