JOB DESCRIPTION

Safety Engineer

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Provide guidance and technical support toward the implementation and continuation of SRK-OH’s Safety, Security and Health programs, policies and procedures. Provide strong leadership, involvement and communication with all Associates to ensure compliance with all appropriate government regulations, SRK group policies and customer ESG requirements. This position reports to the EHS Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Respond to machine safety concerns immediately and take appropriate actions to resolve concerns
• Work with Associates at all levels to prevent occupational injuries & improve overall safety performance
• Assist in the coordination of safety related activities & teams
• Support SRK-OH’s compliance to OSHA Regulations & SRK group policies
• Assist in the review of work-related incidents, investigations, evaluations and completion of appropriate countermeasures
• Participate in regular safety meetings and track / follow up on recommended activities
• Track all Collect and Reveal hazard reporting and assist in countermeasure determination and completion
• Support safety audits of new equipment installations, relocated existing equipment & process modifications.
• Participate in SRK-OH New Hire Orientation Training and assist Team Leaders with line side training of New Trainees and Associates related to safety
• Support development & implementation of recurrent training related to safety
• Provide guidance and support toward implementation of safety initiatives and improvements
• Work in cooperation with the Plant Nurse and EHS Manage to promote the health, safety and wellness of SRK-OH Associates
• Develop & maintain regular safety related communications throughout the plant
• Work with the EHS Manager to develop & document required safety policies & procedures
• Support Job Hazard Analysis and Job Safety Analysis
• Regularly update plant safety metrics to facilitate reporting to government agencies & SRK group companies

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB INFORMATION:

• Offer recommendations to EHS Manager of actions necessary to achieve continuous improvement in areas of
  safety, wellness and security for SRK-OH’s associates and facility
• Associates at all levels must maintain their Roles and Responsibilities as outlined within SRK-OH’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO9001 and ISO 14001. These industry standards are necessary to ensure continued Customer Satisfaction in relationship with our philosophy of Continuous Quality Improvement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The minimum qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of the job such as education, competencies, experience, knowledge and skills. This should include any specialized knowledge and expertise applicable to the job.

• Bachelor’s degree in a Safety discipline, or equivalent training and experience in a related field
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and team building skills
• Ability to work independently and manage numerous tasks without the need for routine oversight
• Good understanding of applicable safety regulations & programs: OSHA, ISO
• Ability to analyze & interpret data and identify root cause
• Proficient use of common computer software
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced, continuously changing manufacturing environment
