As a Security Officer - Utility Patrol - Full Time in Santa Barbara, CA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities and more .

As a Patrol Officer with Allied Universal, you will play a key role in helping to deter security-related incidents and maintaining a secure environment at a utilities location. Your responsibilities will include conducting routine patrols throughout the premises, remaining highly visible to help discourage unwanted activity, and providing outstanding customer service to everyone you encounter. You will be expected to communicate clearly and professionally, respond promptly to incidents, and support access control measures as needed. This position may involve working in areas with limited on-site facilities, such as rustic guard shacks or portable restrooms. What You’ll Do:

  • Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
  • Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
  • Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
  • Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
  • Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise

Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the utility location and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor for unusual activity and report any security-related concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with access control by verifying credentials of individuals entering restricted areas.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, visitors, and Allied Universal management.
  • Complete detailed and accurate reports regarding incidents, observations, and daily activities.
  • Remain alert to potential hazards or security-related risks within the utility environment and take appropriate action as directed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Experience providing customer service is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • A valid Guard Card or license is preferred.
  • Willingness to work at locations with limited on-site facilities such as portable toilets or rustic guard shacks is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21 plus years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
