The Senior Respiratory Therapist is expected to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of contemporary Respiratory Therapy principles. The Senior Respiratory Therapist should be a solid performer who is fully competent in all aspects of his/her job description. The Senior Respiratory Therapist possesses all of the core skills of an associate level Respiratory Therapist. He/she is expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures. He/she will collaborate with physicians and nurses in planning and implementing the patient plan of care. Completion of the department orientation program as well as unit-specific orientation is mandatory. This individual assists the physician with the delivery and direction of respiratory therapy.
