Job Description

A school district in the Burlington, IL area is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support for K-12 students. This position is a contract role running from August 4, 2025, through June 6, 2026, offering 32.5 to 35 hours per week aligned with the school schedule. The role requires on-site presence to effectively collaborate with students, educators, and support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation services for students in educational settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to facilitate effective communication and learning.
  • Manage assigned caseload to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Maintain professional and respectful interactions with students, staff, and the school community.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess ISBE approval as a Sign Language Interpreter, or have an EIPA score of 3.0 or higher to qualify for temporary approval.
  • Proven experience in educational sign language interpreting preferred.
  • Ability to work in person within the specified geographic area.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
