About the Job The University of Minnesota, Department of Theatre Arts and Dance, has an occasional need for part-time, temporary theatre arts or dance stage managers. This is not a posting for vacancies but establishes a pool of applicants for potential openings during the 2024-2025 academic year. Applications will not be acknowledged upon receipt; only contacted if an active opening occurs. Positions may be appointed any time during the academic year, from late August to late May or summer 2025. The role of Stage Manager involves running rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances. The Stage Manager will work with undergraduate student performers, serve as a mentor to undergraduate assistant stage managers, and collaborate with graduate designers and an undergraduate crew to produce the show. Key Responsibilities Rehearsal and technical rehearsals management Pre-production duties as required Attending meetings Preparing the rehearsal room and actively managing it in conjunction with the rest of the SM team Sending out Daily Rehearsal Reports and Calls Assembling and maintaining the Prompt book Collaborating with the production and creative team during rehearsals and after opening Running technical rehearsals ensuring safety of cast, crew, and all involved Performance Responsibilities Attending and calling each performance Sending out Performance Reports Maintaining the integrity of the show to the best of their abilities Qualifications Required Qualifications: Previous experience as a theatrical stage manager Availability during nights and weekends; schedule varies, including almost all evenings and weekends Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Suite (Word, Excel, Zoom) Preferred Qualifications: Calm, professional demeanor; sense of humor encouraged Good judgment and discretion Ability to work with students as a teacher and mentor Superior organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and maintain a positive work environment #J-18808-Ljbffr University of Minnesota
