Description

About the Role:

We're looking for someone who can keep our databases and servers running smoothly. You'll be the go-to for managing SQL Server environments, maintaining virtual machines, and making sure our systems are secure, backed up, and performing well.

This is a Permanent Hire role that will require a hybrid work schedule in Waukesha, WI.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Database Management
• Set up and maintain SQL Server databases
• Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues
• Apply updates and ensure data integrity
• Support developers with database-related needs
• Server & Infrastructure Support
• Manage Windows and Linux servers
• Handle system updates, patches, and hardware upgrades
• Oversee security tools like firewalls and antivirus
• Participate in internal and external security audits
• Virtualization & System Performance
• Maintain virtual environments (VMware or similar)
• Monitor system capacity and plan for growth
• Keep licensing and support contracts up to date
• Application & Batch Support
• Help troubleshoot app issues tied to databases
• Coordinate batch jobs and special processing
• Work with dev teams to roll out updates and patches
• Backup & Recovery
• Run regular backups and test recovery procedures
• Manage disaster recovery equipment and processes
• Ensure systems meet business continuity standards
• Learning & Collaboration
• Stay current with tech trends and tools
• Attend training and industry events
• Share knowledge and support your teammates

Requirements

What You Bring:

• Must have previous professional experience as a SQL Server DBA
• Previous experience managing Windows servers
• Certifications in SQL Server and virtualization (VMware) are a plus
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
• Comfortable working independently and on-call when needed
• Positive, team-first attitude
