Location: Salem, VA
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM | 10-hour shifts | Rotating weekday & weekend call

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Travel CVOR CST – First Assist / Vein Harvester . The ideal candidate will be skilled in high-acuity surgical cases, including Ortho, Neuro, DaVinci robotics, and Ortho Trauma. This role consists of assisting surgeons intraoperatively, performing vein harvest procedures, and supporting a busy 10-room main OR with advanced surgical technologies.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide First Assist support during surgical procedures
• Perform vein harvesting as required
• Assist in complex procedures: craniotomies, spine fusions, liver resections, Whipple, MAKO total joints, robotics
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, circulators, and surgical teams
• Maintain sterile field and follow OR protocols
• Operate surgical equipment safely and efficiently
• Document intraoperative details using Meditech
• Participate in rotating call (weeknights & weekends)

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in CVOR / First Assist
• Proficient in:
  • Orthopedics
  • Ortho Trauma
  • DaVinci Robotic Surgery
  • Neurosurgery

Required Certifications

• Licensed First Assist (FA) – Virginia Board of Medicine
• CST Certification preferred (if applicable per state rules)
• BLS

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical First Assist or Surgical Technology program
