Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit in an acute care setting, requiring at least 2 years of relevant experience and a WV or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in the Telemetry unit within an acute care hospital environment
• Two telemetry units: 2nd Floor with 20 private beds and 6th Floor with 22 beds (private and semi-private)
• Telemetry unit focuses on moderate acuity cardiac patients
• Common patient types include acute coronary syndrome, STEMI/NSTEMI post ICU recovery, pre/post cardiac cath, peritoneal dialysis, occasional post-surgical and oncology cases
• Patient ratios are 1:5 for both day and night shift
• Uses Epic for EMR and Phillips cardiac monitoring equipment
• Nurses responsible for reading and documenting telemetry strips every 4 hours
• Drips managed include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Labetalol, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Heparin, Integrilin, and Nitroglycerin at set rates
• Shifts are 12 hours, 7:00a-7:30p, with a requirement to work every other weekend
• Floating to ICU overflow or Ortho/MedSurg is rare but possible
• Travelers must be willing to assist with holiday coverage as needed by the unit
• Scrubs required: navy blue with navy or white jacket and white or navy undershirt; natural hair color; visible tattoos must be covered
• Passing an EKG test is required for unit access
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Opportunities to precept or take charge roles may be available
• RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including hospitalists, RT, and pharmacy, all available 24/7
• RTO must be discussed and approved in advance in line with unit policies

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years current Telemetry or Progressive Care Unit RN experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA required)
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Background check required for consideration
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• Previous permanent employees or travelers must have a 2-year break before reapplying
