Position Overview: Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a locally owned steel fabrication company in North Plains, Oregon to hire a
Fabrication Project Coordinator . This position is ideal for someone who has managed detailed project timelines, coordinated across departments, and is familiar with the technical aspects of fabrication, construction, or utilities. You will oversee the full lifecycle of incoming customer orders-from initial quote to final documentation-while ensuring alignment with production capabilities and client expectations.
This is not a sales role and is not administrative in nature. It requires an individual who is mechanically inclined, solution-oriented, and experienced in coordinating projects or technical work in environments such as fabrication shops, utilities, or related fields.
Responsibilities: - Serve as the primary point of contact for customer orders, project timelines, and status updates
- Review, track, and enter project data (quotes, specs, documentation) into QuickBooks (ERP system transition expected)
- Understand product fit, form, and function to ensure technical accuracy in deliverables
- Coordinate with estimators, fabricators, and engineering to ensure customer requirements are met
- Read and interpret technical drawings and submittals; ensure clients receive correct documentation
- Track multiple ongoing projects, follow up proactively, and identify risks to delivery timelines
- Support process improvement and operational efficiency across the order fulfillment cycle
- Translate customer needs into actionable work orders and coordinate internally to meet project deadlines
- This position does not involve direct sales responsibilities but requires the ability to effectively articulate the company's technical capabilities and service offerings.
Required Qualifications: - Experience in fabrication, construction, plumbing, utilities, or a job shop environment
- Prior involvement in project coordination or production scheduling
- Strong technical aptitude; able to understand mechanical drawings and fabrication processes
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment
- Comfortable using QuickBooks or similar systems and working in a detail-heavy role
- Team-first mindset with a willingness to contribute across various business functions
- Calm under pressure and highly organized
Preferred Background: - Prior experience in fabrication, steel manufacturing, utilities, or related industrial environments
- A proven record of job stability and long-term commitment in previous positions
